An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 on the Richter scale was registered this Friday in the southeast of Puerto Rico, without causing a tsunami warning or causing notable material damage, according to preliminary information available.

The Puerto Rico Seismic Network announced through social networks that the earthquake caused no tsunami warning, warning or watch for that territory and the United States Virgin Islands.

The government agency indicated that the tremor was felt with the greatest intensity in Arroyo, municipality of the southeast coast of Puerto Rico.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located southeast of the island municipality of Vieques at a point located between latitude 17.936 and longitude 65.29, a kilometer deep.

The record of the earthquake took place at 2:36 p.m. local time.

The telluric movement was felt throughout much of the geography of the Caribbean island, as it was disclosed through social networks.
