Doha International Family Institute organizes the first Gulf Forum for Family Policies next Monday

Doha: The Doha International Family Institute, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, will organize, next Monday, the “First Gulf Forum for Family Policies”, in cooperation with the Executive Office of the Council of Labor Ministers and the Council of Ministers of Social Affairs in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

Through visual communication technology, the forum will shed light on the family policies in the GCC countries. It discusses the dimensions of the urgent issues facing families in the Gulf countries and the means of support that related policies and programs can provide.

Additionally, the forum aims to review flexible work policies and arrangements that have emerged in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to shed light on the marital rehabilitation programs used in GCC countries, in order to develop and update family policies in line with the recommendations.

The forum will be attended by directors of departments and workers concerned with family departments in the ministries of social development affairs in the GCC countries or their affiliated centres, and representatives of the authorities concerned with the family in the GCC countries.

In this regard, Dr Sharifa Al Emadi, Executive Director of the Doha International Family Institute, stressed that this joint Gulf initiative constitutes a platform for meeting policymakers, specialists and civil society organizations, and is an opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance aspects of joint cooperation in Gulf family issues.

According to her, the forum will shed light on family policy developments in Qatar. The latest studies issued by the Institute will be reviewed. She expressed her hope that the forum’s recommendations will serve as a road map to enhance the status, cohesion and protection of the Gulf family.

During the Forum, it intends to expand the pool of partners working towards the well-being of families and strengthening family cohesion in GCC countries.Β
