Al Wasmi to begin Saturday, October 16th in Qatar
Doha: Al Wasmi begins on October 16, Saturday. It is the 52 day period that heralds the rainy season. this period is characterised by the movement of the clouds from the West to the East, Qatar Meteorology stated this on its twitter.
This period (Al Wasmi) was given its name because it corresponds with the rainy season when numerous plants blossom such as truffle (plant) and Geranium (Al-Yarwa). Qatar Meteorology said that the temperature tends to drop during this time period, with afternoon temperatures being warm and the night temperatures mild. The weather can get very cold at times, particularly with the dry northwesterly winds blowing.
