The Ohio police forcefully removed a paraplegic man from his vehicle and threw him to the ground, despite his repeated appeals and the fact that he said he could not use his legs, according NBC News.

The Dayton Police Department shared the video on YouTube showing two officers ordering the motorist Clifford Owensby get out of the Audi you were driving during a traffic stop last week. The video supplied by the police was edited and it is unclear what happened before or after the video.

The dayton police reported that he stopped the car because they had to search it for drugs and weapons. Which they apparently did not find, there is no information about this in the video or in a subsequent statement from the Fraternal Order of Dayton Police.

“I can’t get out of the vehicle, sir,” he said. Owensby. The officer told Owensby that he needed to be out of the vehicle so a dog could smell the drugs, but the motorist objected. “No, no, no, no, you are not going to touch me. You are definitely not going to touch me ”, you can hear him say in the video. “There will be a lawsuit if you get your hands on me for no reason, bro.”

Owensby He then appeared to make a phone call, asking someone to come up to him and film his interactions with officers. And apparently someone did.

In a video that shows a part of the images from the body camera, shared by a user of Instagram who was identified as Owensby’s daughter, an officer is heard asking the driver to get out of the car. When he responds that he cannot physically get out and that he received help getting into the car, the police officer tells Owensby that you have to be outside the vehicle for them to register the car, due to its track record.

Owensby can be heard telling officers that he is a paraplegic. One of the officers said that he would help him out of the car, but the motorist refused and asked why they stopped him.

Owensby asked the officers to call his supervisor before they unbuttoned it and seemed to be dragging it by her shoulders and hair. He screamed and yelled repeatedly, “Someone help! Someone help! “

When the officers pushed him against the pavement, one of them put his knee on his back. while Owensby kept pleading for help. Another video on Instagram shows the arrest of the disabled person, who at one point shouted: “Can you call the royal police, please?”.

The agents involved have not been identified. The President of the Fraternal Order of Dayton Police, Jerome A. Dix, said in a statement late Friday that officers asked to carry out their orders and offered to “help” Owensby when they were told he was paraplegic. He said the motorist “continued to verbally violate”, which intensified the response of the agents.

“Officers followed the law, their training, and the department’s policies and procedures,” Dix said. “Sometimes arresting noncompliant people is not pretty, but it is a necessary part of law enforcement to maintain public safety, which is one of the fundamental ideologies of our society.”

Owensby He did not respond to attempts by NBC News for comment on Friday, but told the Dayton Daily News: “I feel like they don’t even respect me as a citizen.” Owensby said he was scraped out of the vehicle and that a previous injury to his back had re-injured.

The Mayor of Dayton, Nan Whaley, He said in a statement on Friday: “The video of this police interaction is very disturbing to me. No matter where you live or what you look like, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect when dealing with the Dayton police. ” He said the incident was under investigation.
