Amir’s address at the UN, according to Kuwait’s envoy, emphasised many critical global issues.

Doha: During the General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Qatar, H E Hafiz Mohammed Al Ajmi, complimented the speech given by Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Many international problems were discussed throughout the address, with the Amir emphasising the importance of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

“The speech by HH the Amir dealt with many important issues both internally and externally, as it addressed the policies of the State of Qatar and its position towards many vital issues in which Qatar plays a clear effort and a vital role that international society and the committees concerned with all United Nations organisations praise.”

Qatar has played an important role in the Afghan peace efforts, according to him. When it comes to evacuating Afghan refugees, he added, Qatar has made no compromises.

Al Ajmi further stated that Amir’s talk dealt with the Arab world’s concerns, such as Palestine, Syria, and Yemen. “HH the Amir called on the international community, especially the Security Council to take its legal responsibility towards these issues.”

“Regarding COVID-19 pandemic, the Amir stressed in his speech the necessity of the equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines, ensuring their access to the countries of the South, as well as the need to coordinate efforts in combating false news, conspiracy theories and questioning the feasibility of vaccines.

“I would like to emphasise that the Kuwaiti-Qatari relationship has been distinguished since ancient times, and is historically rooted through social and family ties between the peoples of the two countries, wishing continued stability and prosperity for the peoples of the two brotherly countries,” the Ambassador said.
