At E3 2021, Capcom confirmed the ongoing work on download content for the horror adventure “Resident Evil Village”. As the Japanese company indicated in a recent statement, some of the content could be offered in the form of free download packages.

Resident Evil Village: Apparently free DLCs in the works

During the week, the Japanese publisher Capcom announced that the horror title “Resident Evil Village”, published in May of this year, reached the next commercial milestone and now more than five million times was delivered or sold digitally.

In addition, in the course of the current annual report, the company spoke about the future of “Resident Evil Village” and the planned support for the horror adventure. As already announced at this year’s E3 in June, Capcom is working on download content, which at the time of the announcement was still in an early stage of development. Accordingly, no specific details about the upcoming content have been given at E3 2021.

Concrete details are still a long way off

Capcom was still unable to elicit tangible information, but indicated that part of the downloadable content for “Resident Evil Village” could be offered free of charge. At least this suggests a statement from Yoichi Egawa, Executive Corporate Officer of Capcom’s development department, in which free download packages for “Monster Hunter Rise” and “Resident Evil Village” are promised.

“We will get our customer management team to understand game trends and user preferences while building a business model to operate online, taking into account the situation of our free additional DLC for titles like Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village,” it said here.

When the official presentation of the upcoming “Resident Evil Village” DLC can be expected is unfortunately still in the stars.
