Australia records a new record increase in the number of people infected with “Corona”

Australia recorded a new record increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19 on Tuesday, as the outbreak of the highly contagious mutant Omicron hampers the process of reopening the economy, while state leaders discussed restrictions on internal borders.
According to a statistics conducted by Reuters based on official figures, the country recorded 11,264 new infections with the Corona virus the previous day, exceeding again the peak recorded the day before, while facing difficulties with the scheduled reopening process in light of the outbreak of the new mutant.
Australia recorded five deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths to more than 2,200 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Authorities have not determined whether any of the new deaths were linked to Omicron.
The Omicron, which health experts describe as a faster spread but less severe than previous strains, began spreading in Australia as it embarked on plans to completely reopen the economy after a closure that continued intermittently for nearly two years.
