British police are investigating a video of a plot to assassinate the Queen of Britain
Police in Britain are investigating a video of a man who was caught with a weapon for shooting arrows at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day.
The video, obtained by the British newspaper “The Sun”, appeared to show a masked person wearing a hooded jacket and holding a weapon.
In the video, the person faces the camera saying he wants to “assassinate the Queen” on a “revenge” mission.
British police say investigators are “assessing the contents of a video” after the arrest of a 19-year-old man from Southampton, southern England.
A police spokesman declined to comment on the identity of the person in the video, and Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
The suspect is being treated under the Mental Health Act after being found on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Initially, the man was detained, at approximately 08:30 GMT on Saturday, on suspicion of entering a protected area without a permit and possessing an offensive weapon.
Queen Elizabeth II is staying at Windsor Castle during the Christmas period. She was due to have lunch that day with others, including the heir to the throne, the Prince of Wales, and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.
