“Canelo” Álvarez is named the Boxer of the Year by The Ring magazine

The Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez was chosen the Boxer of the Year by the prestigious magazine The Ring, which also awarded his coach Eddy Reynoso as the best in his category in 2021.

Álvarez is the current WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF Super Middleweight world champion, a milestone that will now force him to go for other challenges in 2022. In fact, the Mexican intends to fight in the Cruiserweight, for which he will have to go up several kilograms.

Álvarez’s goal is to win a fifth world title in a different category, in addition to the gains he could generate in other markets, such as Africa, where he is the current world champion of that weight by the World Boxing Council.

Remember that Cruiserweight is one of the categories considered heavy in boxing, in which the stipulated limits range from 80 to 91 kilograms (175-200 pounds).
