Al Thawadi dismissed the report on workers’ death as “misleading”

H E Hassan Al Thawadi, chief organiser of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy has reacted to the Guardian’s allegations in an interview to CNN. He has termed the report on workers’ death related to FIFA World Cup 2022 as “inherently misleading.”
The guardian accused Qatar for the deaths of more than 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the period 2011–2020.
Al Thawadi defies all accusations.“If we’re looking specifically at World Cup stadiums, we have had, unfortunately, three work-related deaths and 35 non-work-related deaths,” he said.
The number 6,500,as he said, is not limited to workers themselves and includes people from all different walks of life.
Any accidents is a misfortune. “But the number itself, if you break it down with the total population over a period of 10 years, it comes in within the normal mortality rate,” he added.
Qatar has almost completed its infrastructure works related to FIFA World Cup 2022.
Al Thawadi said to CNN’s Becky Anderson that the World Cup organisers are on track to present an impeccable tournament in 2022.
