Sheikh Joaan honours the Qatar national table tennis and swimming teams

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), honoured the Qatar national table tennis and swimming teams on Wednesday for their outstanding performances at the Arab championship for teams and clubs table tennis in Jordan and the 28th Gulf Cooperation Council championship for water games in Doha.

HE Dr Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Second Vice-President of the Qatar Olympic Committee,   HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the QOC, Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Swimming Association attended the honouring session. Other members of Boards of directors of the two federations and directors of departments of the Olympic Committee were also present during the session.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani congratulated the two teams for their honourable results and thanked the Chairman and members of the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, the Qatar Swimming Federation, the administrative and technical bodies, and the players for their great efforts. He stressed that QOC is eagerly waiting for tapping the team’s full potential and gaining more results in future.

The Qatari table tennis players finished runner-up overall in the combined Arab championship for teams and clubs that was held in Jordan after winning 19 medals, including 4 gold medals in the team, singles, and doubles competitions, while the Qatari swimming team took first place among the youth groups at the 28th Gulf Water Games Championship of the Gulf Cooperation Council that was held in Doha (3 gold, 6 silver and one bronze).
