For sustainable initiatives, the Museum of Islamic Art received a GSAS Gold rating

Museum of Islamic Art has achieved the prestigious GSAS OPERATIONS – GOLD Certification as a result of our continuous efforts in implementing sustainability initiatives and measures. Chairperson of Qatar Museums H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani shared this achievement on her social media channels.
The Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) is awarded for the efficient operations and maintenance (O&M) of existing facilities. As the first green building certification system in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), GSAS assesses and guides projects on reducing their environmental footprint during planning and construction. This is why GSAS Operations focuses on the effects of building operations in the post-occupancy phase.
On the other hand, it is based on the premise that building operations and maintenance practices directly impact the natural environment. This is why GSAS Operations aims to reduce the existing building’s environmental impact. It will also focus on the well being of its occupants too.
