Former Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council explains an important relationship

Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiti talked about the relationship between the Shura Council and the Executive Authority. The former Deputy Chairman of The Shura Council stressed that the nature of the relationship between them is complementary, participatory and positive.

During an exclusive interview with the Qatar News Agency, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiti talked about what others would think about the nature of the relationship. His Excellency said that everyone thinks that the nature of the relationship is one of competition.

His Excellency explained that all parties are keen to build Qatar and achieve development. The Shura Council supports the efforts of the executive authority in building the state of institutions and the rule of law by presenting proposals, perceptions and draft laws to the government. It also discusses them positively, as well as playing the oversight role that facilitates the work of the government. It also helps to identify shortcomings and defaults.

His Excellency indicated that all this will contribute to building Qatar’s renaissance, as the relationship between the Shura Council and the executive authority is complementary, participatory and positive.

His Excellency said: “There is no doubt that there is a focus on an experience that lasted nearly half a century, which is the outcome of political work and cooperation between the government and the Shura Council over the past decades, which embodied the identity and effectiveness of Qatari society and the elite that represented it throughout that period, which took into account the latest economic, political, and social developments.”

The Legislative and the constitutional approach is what helped Qatar to achieve a transition to a new stage.
