German ship rescues nearly 100 migrants in the Mediterranean

The private maritime rescue organization Sea Watch announced today that it has rescued nearly 100 migrants in the Mediterranean, on its fifth mission in three days.
The organization, which is based in the German capital, Berlin, indicated that the crew currently has approximately 450 people on board the ship “Sea Watch 3” who were rescued from migrant boats, and the age of the youngest child on board the ship is 14 days.
In the same context, the Italian Coast Guard said that after a two-day search operation, a boat was spotted carrying migrants on the coast of Crotone, southern Italy, indicating that they had transferred 27 people to a safe place.
Italy is the destination for many migrants traveling by boat, who often set off from North Africa on their journey to the European Union.
According to United Nations data, more than 1,500 people have drowned in the Mediterranean so far this year.
On the 18th of this month, the German Charitable Rescue Organization (CI) managed to rescue 223 migrants in the Mediterranean, pointing out that among the migrants were 29 women and 8 children.
It is noteworthy that tens of thousands of migrants constantly seek to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa to reach Europe, and the crossings they take are often perilous, and journeys become more complicated in winter due to bad weather.
