Google Pixel 6 (Pro) is less secure than expected

Google is not getting out of the negative headlines with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. More and more people are getting one of the new pixel smartphones and are discovering more and more difficulties. The fingerprint sensor in particular causes discussion after Google actually explained why it works so slowly.

Google Pixel 6 (Pro): fingerprint sensor unsafe?

The fingerprint sensor in the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is slow. That’s exactly what I wrote in our test of the Pixel 6 Pro. Google blamed the sensor’s slow response to that this makes him particularly safe. Since it is an optical fingerprint sensor, which is generally considered to be unsafe because it can be easily outwitted, Google’s explanation was somehow understandable. But now the opposite seems to be the case.

In fact, the fingerprint sensor on the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro seems anything but secure. At Reddit, more and more people are complaining that strangers use their smartphones unlock another fingerprint. There is even video evidence that shows this very clearly. Only the owner’s fingerprint is stored there and someone else can still unlock the Google phone.

When the post appeared on Reddit with video, other people got in touch with the same problem. Many now of course try it out, succeed and write it in the thread. I saved both thumbs in the Pixel 6 Pro and at least other thumbs couldn’t unlock my phone.

in the Video let’s show you why the Google Pixel 6 is a very special smartphone:

Google has to solve the problems with the Pixel 6 (Pro)

Google should take care of the problem, because the actually safe function does not seem to be quite as safe, at least in some cases. Since many apps, including those for banking, are unlocked with the fingerprint, this function must be secure.
