River Plate striker Julián Álvarez was named the best player in America in 2021 in a renowned survey carried out by the Uruguayan newspaper El País, taking 28% of the votes of journalists participating in the scrutinies.
The attacker will receive recognition in a ceremony to be held in February after beating Gabigol (Flamengo), Gustavo Gómez (Palmeiras), Hulk (Atlético MIneiro) and Giorigian de Arrascaeta (Flamengo) in the vote.
