Kahramaa installs electric car charging stations at QNL

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has constructed two new electric car charging stations in Doha, as part of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed). Qatar Fire Station Museum and Qatar National Library now have the 20th and 21st charging stations, respectively.

“We are committed in Kahramaa to support the sustainability in Qatar, and one of its most important axes is to encourage the use of electric vehicles and establish the necessary infrastructure for them, in compliance with Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Kahramaa Eng.

That is in accordance with the standards of sustainable development under the Paris Agreement to which Qatar and Kahramaa are committed, he explained.

At Kahramaa, Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi, director of Kahramaa’s conservation and energy efficiency department, claimed that 21 charging stations have been built as successful models in various sectors of Qatar. As part of a collaboration with many ministries and agencies, six additional stations are presently being installed and put into service. This year, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation will award the public tender for the installation and operation of 100 electric car charging stations in Qatar’s most important locations.
