Katara inaugurates the ‘Circles’ exhibition

Doha: The ‘Circles’ exhibition in Hall 18 of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) was inaugurated by Professor Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara. It will run through October 9th. The exhibition will provide artists with an opportunity to display their work and share their thoughts on history, culture, society, and mankind as a whole.

As each artist participates in three works revolving around a specific idea expressed in circular paintings with a diameter of (50)cm, drawing inspiration from heritage in its various forms and formats, the exhibition “Circles” highlights multiple artistic achievements and features modern and contemporary experiments in various methods of plastic art. “The opening of the ‘Circles’ exhibition, which brings together 14 artists, presents rich and distinctive artistic experiences in fine art,” said Dr Al Sulaiti.

Qatari history and Arab and Islamic culture were prominent themes in artist Talal Jihad Al Jaidah’s work, which was displayed during the exhibition. He described his three paintings as combining actual calligraphic forms with language from Qatari heritage, such as horses and falcons, to showcase the beauty of the essence of Arab and Islamic culture.

Shatha Al Shammari’s paintings, she claims, depict a single character while referencing numerous art movements and styles, including realism, abstraction, and cubism. Qatari and resident artists are represented in the Circles exhibition, including Saeeda Al Badr, Shatha Al Shamri, Fatima Muhammad, Talal Jihad Al Jaidah, Shuaa Al Muftah, Abdul Aziz Al Dosari, Fatima Al Salat, Manal Al Qubaisi, Hanifa Abdulkader, Huda Bashel, Shahar Hamza, Zeina Aabara, Alexandra Ode and Sanchai Zonbut.
