Shooting kills at least two in Maryland nursing home

Two women died after a shooting in a nursing home in Prince George’s County, in Maryland, on Friday morning, police said.

The victims were employees of National Church Residences – Gateway Village, according to authorities. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, Prince George’s County Police said.

Authorities said the scene of the shooting has been assured, while the investigation continues and that there is no threat to the community. One victim was found in a hallway and the other was recovered in an office, according ABC News.

“We are extremely heartbroken,” National Church Residences said in a statement. β€œWe are proud of the heroic and swift actions of our staff to ensure that our residents are protected and safe. Our hearts go out to the families of the two members of our team who lost their lives. “

The suspect and the victims of the shooting have not been identified.
