Team Qatar’s two-time world champion Mutaz Barshim wins the gold medal for high jump competition at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
It’s Qatar’s second gold medal in Olympics. Yesterday, Qatar’s Fares Ibrahim won the gold medal in the men’s 96-kilogram weightlifting category.
In a dramatic end to the high jump final, Mutaz Barshim shares the hold medal with Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi.
Two athletes including Barshim, Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy, and Belarusian Maksim Nedasekau cleared the height 2.37m, increasing the dramatic effect of the game.
With no athlete able to beat a height of 2.39m, the gold was shared between Barshim and Tamberi, with Nedasekau taking the bronze on countback.
