Pamela degrades to tropical depression after making landfall in Mexico

The Pamela phenomenon, which made landfall on Wednesday as a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, has degraded to a tropical depression as it moves through northern Mexico, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
“Pamela weakens to tropical depression and it is located on land 240 km northeast of the city of Durango, ”the government agency wrote on Twitter in its most recent bulletin.

Pamela, who was formed last weekend, has had a somewhat unusual evolution, since this Tuesday it weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm, but strengthened again in the last hours until it made landfall in the state of Sinaloa.
According to the meteorological forecast, the cyclone will continue to gradually weaken throughout the day as it travels through part of the country, leaving rains.
Floods and power failures

The state Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) indicated that 120,727 users have been affected by the hurricane so far, representing 7% of the company’s total users in the states of Nayarit and Sinaloa.

The cyclone had impacted days before in the Yucatan peninsula, where it also left flooding and electrical failures, although without fatalities.
Meanwhile, Nora, who made landfall on August 28, caused a minor to die in the state of Jalisco and seven disappeared, six of them fishermen from the state of Guerrero.
