Qatar Airways Cargo receives award from Nepal for the highest export tonnage

Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) awarded Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading air cargo carrier, for achieving the highest export tonnage (2850 tonnes) out of Nepal for 2020. As part of NEFFA’s annual Nepal Cargo Day celebrations on July 29, 2021, the award was presented in Kathmandu.

An important part of Nepal’s trade is supported by the cargo carrier, which is recognised with this award. Every year, the Association presents awards to the top three carriers for their contributions to the country’s exports, and this year’s winners For more than a decade, Qatar Airways Cargo has held the top spot for the highest uplift from Nepal.

“I am proud and humbled to receive the award for highest exports from Nepal. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our teams who go above and beyond to support our customers. Their dedication and teamwork especially during the challenging times of the pandemic last year have been vital. We also appreciate the trust and support of our customers, local authorities and business partners.” said Guillaume Halleux, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo.

Airlines have operated flights to Kathmandu in Nepal’s capital city since 1997. A 45 per cent share of Nepal’s exports went to the airline in 2020, while 44 per cent went to its imports. Kathmandu is served twice daily by Qatar Airways Cargo in August, carrying more than 150 tonnes of cargo each way. From the airline’s base in Doha, it’s possible to connect Nepal to important export destinations in the United States and Europe.
