Doha: Qatar’s 8th International Boat Show (QIBS) 2021 made history by launching high-end yachts and speedboats made in Qatar. QIBS is taking place at The Pearl Qatar. It concludes today.
Performance Marine launched four-speed boats at QIBS Thursday, including the largest speed boat ever made in Qatar, a 52 foot long and 14-foot wide central cabin boat capable of 85 kilometres per hour (kph).
Among the four types of speed boats that Performance Marine introduced this year were the largest ever built in Qatar, a boat that Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al Thani said he was proud to show the people of Qatar, especially marine lovers. Performance Marine plans to attend future boat shows as well.
Six Qatari boat manufacturers are among the 36 companies participating in the boat show this year. Since 2013, Al Mannai Plus Events has organized the event. Halul Boats, Doha Craft Marine, OCRA Boat, Balhambar Boats, Al Kuwari Boats and Lusail Boat Factory are some of the other boat manufacturing companies in Qatar.
Halul Boats Chairman Ahmed Mohammed Hamad Al Hitmi said his company’s 10 new, made-in-Qatar boats will be on display at the boat show.
Since 2004, his company has manufactured boats in Qatar. Qatar is known for its boat manufacturing industry, and the country exports yachts and boats, according to Al Hitmi. The local and regional markets are healthy, and the marine industry in Qatar has a bright future, he noted.
This year at the exhibition, Doha Craft, established in 2018 in Qatar Free Zone, debuted two high-end quality boats, 44 ft. and 38.8 ft. A single-seater water car was presented for the first time by Speed Moto Qatar at the exhibition.
