Google should develop a pixel watch

A few days ago, Google revealed the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones. With its new releases, it offers an excellent combination of specifications, prices and perhaps even promises. There is no doubt that the Pixel 6 phones are the most interesting Google ever.

That’s because previous Pixel phones were pretty traditional, and were always patchy and not groundbreaking enough. Also, Google has done a lot this year. As the Android 12 update is one of the biggest updates ever, and Pixel phones are undoubtedly one of the most prominent Android phones.

Perhaps Google needs to repeat the exact same experience in the smart watch market. Especially after the huge update that the Wear OS system for smart watches got in conjunction with the launch of Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch 4 watches.

This is supported by Google’s huge acquisition of Fitbit, which specializes in the manufacture and development of smart watches. However, the company had stated earlier that this acquisition is still in its early stages. But she confirmed that the Fitbit team will be developing premium watches with Wear OS in the near future.

And Wear OS still isn’t popular enough. As the latest and most evolution Wear OS 3 is currently only available on Galaxy Watch 4. While other smartwatches – other than Apple – come with watered-down operating systems developed by their manufacturers, Huawei is an example.

In the event that a user purchases the new Pixel 6 phone and wants to buy a smartwatch with Wear OS, the only option is from Samsung. Although the Galaxy Watch is more than great, it offers a Samsung experience.

This means that the operating system – and combined with Tizen – tends to provide a user experience similar to what Samsung offered in its older watches. This includes both built-in apps, payment systems, and more.

In addition, to be able to use the Galaxy Watch 4 with the new Pixel phones, he will have to download a number of Samsung apps and services on his phone. That’s because Samsung has kept the upper hand in Wear OS on its watches.

Perhaps Google has never given enough attention to smartwatches. As its strongest attempts were in 2016 in cooperation with LG, but the project was canceled immediately before the launch of the watch at the time. Perhaps now is the most appropriate time for Google to launch its smart watch.

the right time

Perhaps Google is the only company that can actually compete with Apple. As it develops the operating system itself, it is now developing the internal hardware itself as well as we saw in the Pixel phones.

The company has operating systems for nearly every device and platform, from smartwatches to TVs and car infotainment systems.

Now is the time for Pixel smartwatches for several reasons, which are summed up in Google’s growing interest in hardware, the massive US$2.1 billion acquisition of Fitbit, and the lack of other smartwatches offering a decent Pixel phone experience.
