Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon to coach WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces

Becky Hammon, the first woman to be a full-time assistant coach in the NBA, will leave her position with the San Antonio Spurs because she will coach in the WNBA, ESPN reported.

Hammon spent eight seasons on the coaching staff of head coach Gregg Popovich and was a candidate to take over the club. However, Las Vegas Aces’ proposal to coach came to him and he decided to change league.

Although it was not revealed how much Hammon’s salary will be in the WNBA, the information handled by journalist Adrian Wojnarowski indicates that she will be the highest paid coach in the championship. He will continue as Spurs coach until the end of the current season.
