Square Enix disappointed with superhero adventure

Since its launch last year, players have been eyeing the superhero game “Marvel’s Avengers” critically. Now Square Enix commented again on the title and described its performance as disappointing.

Although these challenges were mastered, the action game was “unfortunately not as successful as we would have liked.”

Matsuda also emphasizes that Square Enix wants to continue to use the Games as a Service model in the future, but immediately added “the need to select game designs that match the unique characteristics and preferences of our studios and development teams.” Still, “Marvel’s Avengers “has been an instructive experience, because the title has revealed various problems in this regard.

“Marvel’s Avengers” was released on September 4, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S followed on March 18, 2021.
