Successor in the early development phase? Work should pause
According to unconfirmed reports, those responsible at Electronic Arts gave the green light to a new “Fight Night”. Since the development of the successor was paused, we shouldn’t expect the release in the foreseeable future, the sources continue.
During the week we heard rumors that the decision makers at US publisher Electronic Arts had decided to pave the way for the return of a popular brand.
After it was only possible to speculate which brand is meant in detail, the English-speaking colleagues from Videogames Chronicle might already know more. As the magazine reports, citing internal emails from EA Canada, Electronic Arts gave the green light to the development of a new “Fight Night” title. The catch: The successor should not be released in the foreseeable future.
EA Sports UFC in internal focus?
Instead, it goes on to say that EA Canada will initially focus its internal efforts on the upcoming offshoot of the EA Sports UFC series. The new “Fight Night”, on the other hand, is said to be in a very early stage of development. To make matters worse, work on the new “Fight Night” is currently on hold due to the development of “EA Sports UFC” and, according to the sources, will only be resumed at the end of 2022 after the upcoming “EA Sports UFC” title has been published.

“We are very excited about UFC 5 and we want to eliminate the split focus that several members of our executive team had in the past while we were solely on […] UFC 5 can concentrate in a high quality ”, quoted Videogames Chronicle from the present e-mail.
Electronic Arts did not want to comment on or even confirm the rumors about the new “Fight Night”.
