Indian Embassy in Qatar advises travellers to be cautious on carrying medicines to the country
The Indian Embassy in Qatar has issued a travel advisory on carrying medicines to the country. The embassy also warned the residents to be cautious while doing so.
The Embassy stated that the medicines that contain narcotics or psychotropic substances are prohibited to carry while arriving in the country. Following medicines are included in the list:
- Alprazolam (Xanax)
- Diazepam (Valium)
- Lyrica
- Tramadol
- Methadone
- Pregabalin
- Zolpidem
- Codeine
- Zolam
- Clonazepam
Medicines that are meant for personal consumption and are not banned should have a proper prescription from a recognised doctor and a reputed hospital. This is only for a period of 30 days.
Carrying medicines for family and family are also warned to take caution. Violating this will lead to arrest and jail sentences in Qatar.
