Hero, prophet or maybe a bloody wolf: The closed network test for “Elden Ring” gives a first foretaste of the game. We explain the five classes it contains and their peculiarities.
With “Elden Ring”, the latest work by the “Dark Souls” creators from From Software will be released on February 5, 2021. The closed network test will start on November 12, 2021, and it will give selected players the chance to play the open world adventure.
In the past few days we took you to the intermediate country and explained what the Limgrave area and the monsters and enemies that live there are all about. In this article, however, we’ll go back to basics and explain the five playable classes and their idiosyncrasies.
warrior

The warrior is a tried and tested hand-to-hand fighter. At the start he has two scimitar and a shield. So you can switch from the more offensive two-handed fight to the combination of sword and shield. Otherwise, the warrior proves to be a robust fighter who is quick on his feet and can take a solid portion of damage.
At the same time, however, thanks to his good physical condition, you also have the opportunity to bring quick combinations of strokes to the finish. His Storm Blade talent is a particularly heavy blow, but requires a longer charge phase. You have to dose and time the deployment accordingly. The warrior is also well suited as an archer due to his high skill values.

How does the prophet play?
The prophet is a warrior of the spirit and does most of the damage with his talent, the beast’s claw. In addition, he has the ability of the Holy Ground right from the start, with which he can summon a healing circle and fill up about three quarters of his life meter. In a game like “Elden Ring” this is of course worth gold and helps enormously in boss fights.
At the same time, however, the prophet is anything but extremely dangerous in hand-to-hand combat despite the combination of club and shield. He is therefore susceptible to melee damage and you have to be careful with him. It is thus reminiscent of the role of a priest.
Enchanted knight

How does the enchanted knight play?
The enchanted knight can best be compared to a paladin. In its standard version, the enchanted knight carries a swinging spear in one hand and the Carian wand in the other. In addition, he has a heavy shield in his arsenal at the beginning, so that you can switch to a bit more defensive equipment.
The enchanted knight is extremely versatile and acts both in close combat and from a distance. The wand has the talents of Shimmerstone Pebbles (ranged combat) and Carian impaler (impact attack). In addition, he strengthens his resilience with the talent “Iron Will”.

How does the hero play?
The hero (or in English champion) is almost reminiscent of Conan the barbarian in the male incarnation. Nevertheless, the hero is not a dull character, but offers more than just pure hand-to-hand combat. The hero wields a war ax and can cause very high damage with it. However, it is not possible to combine a war ax with a shield. Therefore you can neither block nor parry with the hero (in the standard version) and have to rely on evasive roles and sidesteps.
His Dragon Fire ability turns you into a fire eater: With this attack, the hero causes considerable area damage and, in case of doubt, can even damage an entire group of enemies. This ability doesn’t just describe a brief burst of fire. If you hold the button down, you can pump all your energy into the attack.
Bloody wolf

How does the bloody wolf play?
Heavily armored and equipped with a huge bastard sword: the bloody wolf is the class for would-be damage dealers and those who enjoy big weapons. His great strength allows him to wear armor as well as heavy weapons. Because in addition to the bastard sword, the mighty fighter also handles a shield.
As a talent, he carries the “parade” with him in the standard build and can skilfully knock out opponents accordingly. The bloody wolf is not very quick on its feet. So watch out for your cover and always think one step further than your opponents.
