Al Sailiya Central Market reopens following the mandatory sanitization issued by MoPH

The sanitization and cleaning work at Al Sailiya Central Market was completed on Thursday, as part of the preventive and precautionary steps against the spread of Covid-19. In order to ensure public health and safety at the market, an official source told local Arabic newspaper Arrayah that this is part of obeying orders from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

On the floor, there are stickers instructing people on how to keep a physical distance of roughly 2m between each other. Participants must undergo a body temperature check, exhibit the Ehteraz app’s green code, and wear a face mask. It is estimated that Thursday and Saturday bring in roughly 3,500 visitors each, while other days bring in 2,000 to 2,200 visitors.

Thermal cameras are also installed at the market’s entrances. Through the public address system, individuals are regularly reminded to take preventive and precautionary actions against Covid-19 through a variety of different languages.

The shopping carts are constantly cleaned. As of Thursday, Al Sailiya Central Market has seen a large number of clients come through. Each of the entry gate guards has an application that allows them to determine how many people are in the market at any given time in order to comply with MoPH instructions regarding Covid-19 protocols.
