Windows 10/11 – Call up advanced start options

If you want to call up Safe Mode or other troubleshooting tools under Windows 10 or Windows 11, you have to open the so-called “Advanced Start Options”. We’ll show you how to do it.

What is the advanced launch?

Via the extended start you call up the troubleshooting in Windows 10 and 11 and can reset the PC there or call up the extended options:

Open the extended start option in Windows

In Windows 11 open the settings, in which you the key combination [Windows] + [i] presses. Navigates to “system“>”Restoration“. Click next to “Extended start“On the button”Restart now“.

In Windows 10 Open the settings with the keyboard shortcut [Windows] + [i]. Click on the button “Update and security“. Select the tab “Restoration” the end. On the right side you click under the lettering “Extended start“On the button”Restart now“.

Alternatively, the whole thing is also faster, as our photo series on safe mode shows:

Open the start menu and click on the button On off. Now hold that Shift key pressed and choose “Start anew” the end. Windows will now start a blue interface with the heading “Select option“. Windows does not start – How to call the advanced start at boot?

Starts the PC and then immediately switches the PC off again abruptly with the power button. Repeat this 3 to 5 times. Windows will then automatically boot into the “Extended start“. Alternatively, you can also use a Windows installation disk.

Call advanced start if Windows does not start

If Windows 10 does not start, you can also open the advanced start with a Windows installation disk:

Boot from the Windows CD or another Windows 10 data carrier. In the language options click on “Further“. Click in the next window NOT click on “Install now, but at the bottom of the lettering “Computer repair options“.
