Yankees would be interested in a trade for Matt Chapman
The New York Yankees have had discussions to acquire Oakland Athletics player Matt Chapman, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported.
Chapman is known for being one of the best defense at third base, but Olney said in his report that the Bronx team wants to sign him to shortstop, a position in which he has only played 10 innings.
In the 2021 MLB season, the 28-year-old had a .210 average, 27 homers, 72 RBIs and a .716 OPS in 151 games played.
Of course the Yankees have also been linked to Carlos Correa and Trevor Story, the top two shortstops still available in free agency.
