Twitter launches Ticketed Spaces for Android

After making the option available for the first time to select iOS users in August, allowed Twitter is now Ticketed Spaces for all iOS users in the US, while Subtract The option is now via Android, providing another option for monetization in the app.

Ticketed Spaces allows Spaces hosts to set the price of tickets for their broadcasts, with the content creator receiving 97 percent of the revenue.

That percentage drops to 80 percent once an individual creator reaches $50,000 in gross earnings (cumulatively via Ticketed Spaces and Super Follows).

But there is still plenty of potential to make money from in-app audio broadcasts, with more users now being able to access the option.

in order to qualifying To Ticketed Spaces, hosts must be over 18 years old, and have hosted three Live Sound Rooms in the 30 days prior to submission. Hosts also need at least 1,000 followers across the platform.

The expansion is based on the platform’s voice social push, which includes the addition of a new Spaces tab, which is also being rolled out to more users.

Twitter is also looking to improve Discover Spaces with new topic tags that help highlight relevant broadcasts in real time to potential interested users.

And expanding the program could help Twitter retain some of its best vocal talent. This is by providing an additional incentive for them to broadcast in the app.

Spaces can also provide greater access and visibility than a Clubhouse. This may also increase revenue as a result, which is another major lure for potential broadcasters in the app.

Twitter wants to take full advantage of Spaces

Although it serves a purpose, it can provide great value in some respects. But it’s not clear if users might care about the social voice in the long run. Especially once the coronavirus restrictions are lifted. People are able to return to regular social encounters, reducing the need for online communication.

But there are some valuable use cases. The platform is also investing in Spaces content creators. This is because they are looking to enhance the utilization of all the value that can be obtained from direct audio rooms.
