MME of Qatar conducts a public awareness campaign

A campaign to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags at cash registers has been launched by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in cooperation with Carrefour Qatar.

As part of the community partnership programme, this initiative aims to educate the community about the importance of using environmentally friendly materials that are commensurate with the Ministry’s efforts and Qatar’s Vision 2030 for the future.

Dr Asmaa Mansour and Dr Ghazwan Adnan from Doha Municipality, as well as employees from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, participated in the campaign. Carrefour Qatar distributed about 50,000 eco-friendly bags to its customers. Additionally, the public was educated on the dangers of single-use plastic bags and the important warning signs and symbols on plastic packages.

According to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the efforts of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in this regard, this initiative is intended to encourage long-term sustainable shopping habits, reduce pollution caused by plastic bags, and contribute to achieving a sustainable environment.
