Katara features works of 12 Dominican artists

Doha: The “Colors of Quisqueya” exhibition at Katara has been inaugurated by Vice President of Dominican Republic H E Raquel Peña and General Manager of Culture Village Foundation Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti yesterday.

“I am proud to be among you today in this exhibition, which shows an important aspect of Dominican culture, as art is a global language that allows everyone to converge and get to know each other. These artworks on display are by the most important Dominican artists of the 20th century, and I hope you enjoy learning about our history and culture” said H E Raquel Peña.

Katara was also praised and thanked for having given her the chance to organize the exhibition. From 10 am to 9 pm, it will be open at Katara Building 47, Exhibition No. 1 until November 29.

“Through these various exhibitions, we are working to introduce new cultures of far countries and differ from us in culture, but the arts in their various tributaries have succeeded in bringing the distances closer. Katara has previously hosted an exhibition of the Dominican Republic, a group of the most famous artists, as visitors discovered an important aspect of the history and culture of the Dominicans,” said Dr Al Sulaiti.

H.E. Georges Basha Hazim, ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Qatar, attended the event along with other ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Qatar. A total of 35 paintings by 12 of the Dominican Republic’s most famous artists were exhibited.
