Qatar Red Crescent and the Palestinian Ministry of Health to support cancer patients in Gaza

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent has signed a partnership agreement with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to provide cancer patients with the necessary drugs to ease their suffering in light of the ongoing shortage of medicines due to the siege and crossing restrictions there.

For ten months, chemotherapy drugs will be provided to 8,644 cancer patients in the Gaza Strip. Under the agreement, the two parties share the financing of the project.

It is worth noting that the Qatar Red Crescent supports the implementation of the project with joint funding with the Kuwait Red Crescent and the Kuwait Finance House, as part of the continuous support for the health sector in Palestine, which suffers severe damage, especially after the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip last May, which severely affected the system’s ability to provide the necessary medical and curative care services for cancer patients from the people of Gaza.

His Excellency Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent, and His Excellency Dr Hilal Musaed Al-Sayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent, had recently signed a cooperation agreement to support and implement the project with joint bilateral funding.
