The return of Kevin lee The Welterweight division not only resulted in a new defeat, but in a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

The 28-year-old fighter revealed yesterday afternoon that he will receive a temporary sanction for having tested positive for Adderall, a drug that stimulates concentration and combats hyperactivity, in a test collected in-competition before his fight with Daniel Rodriguez last August 28.

Lee revealed that he was diagnosed with ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Spanish, in 2018.

β€œIn my last fight I went over the limit allowed by the Nevada Athletic Commission. In 2018 I was diagnosed with ADHD, and it has always affected me. I did not discover a real treatment for the diagnosis until 2020, when I was recovering from the two surgeries on my knees. A doctor prescribed Adderall to improve my mental health. I brought this up to USADA representatives, but did not apply for therapeutic use with the NSAC prior to my last fight. So I really want to apologize to the UFC, the commission, my opponent, Dana White, the matchmakers, Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard, and the fans.

It was never my intention to gain an athletic advantage. It was an attempt to conquer the severe anxiety that I suffer daily in silence. I am actively cooperating with the Nevada Athletic Commission and hope to reach an agreement on the sanction. I will use this time to heal and come back stronger. I am sorry for my lack of professionalism that led to this disappointment. I’ll be back”.

Losing the scorecards to Rodriguez, Lee, a former interim 155-pound belt challenger, fell to 1-4 in his last five appearances in the Octagon.
