Samsung officially announces the W22 5G phone

announced Samsung has officially announced the W22 5G, which is the premium version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The company had shown off an unlockable clamshell phone of the series with Android number plates before the Galaxy Z Flip came out.

But the W-series foldable phones weren’t quite the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which uses a flexible, foldable screen to turn a 6.2-inch screen into a 7.6-inch tablet. Rather, the W series phones were unlockable Android phones.

And starting in 2019 with the W20 5G, the company made a major change to the line. The W series phone that year was an improved Galaxy Fold phone with more durability, Snapdragon 855+ chipset, and 5G support.

Likewise, last year’s W21 5G was an improved Galaxy Z Fold 2 with a slightly taller build, two SIM slots, and a different-looking gold back with vertical stripes.

On its website, the company says: Elegance and precision are in the details. The interior of the hinge is exquisitely constructed and the exterior metal material is solid.

In its promotional materials, Samsung prides itself on the craftsmanship of the W22 5G and its elegant design. It also features a golden spine with a black embossed finish. The Heart to the World logo is also in gold.

With the same specifications as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the W22 5G is equipped with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED external display with a resolution of 832 x 2268 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

From the inside, the device reveals a 7.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The phone runs on the One UI 3.1 user interface based on Android 11.

It has a 4MP bottom camera and a 10MP selfie camera across the front screen. With a triple camera of 12 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP at the back.

The phone can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. There is a 4400 mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, 15W fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Besides the premium appearance, the W22 5G is equipped with additional memory as it has 16GB of RAM compared to the 12GB inside the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It also features a storage capacity of 256 GB.

In addition, the phone does not come with Google services that are blocked in China, as the device is sold at a price of 2,640 USD.
