Huawei: New HarmonyOS Smartwatch has a special function

Smartwatches are now a dime a dozen. Every manufacturer offers a watch that is intended to serve as an extension of the smartphone. But only very few manufacturers also integrate functions that go beyond the basic equipment. Huawei wants to be part of it now.

Huawei smartphones with HarmonyOS should measure blood pressure

At the beginning of May, Huawei announced that smartwatches with advanced medical functions would appear this year. This includes measuring blood sugar and blood pressure as well as creating an EKG. Both the Huawei Watch 3 Pro and the new Huawei Watch GT 3 do not have any of the functions and So technically they are still lagging behind the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Apple Watch 7. That should change.

Accordingly, Huawei should have one this month Introduce a smartwatch with HarmonyOS operating system and blood pressure measurement (Source: PhoneArena). The Chinese company would therefore catch up with Samsung, which also integrated a function for measuring blood pressure in their smartwatches. Apple does not offer such a function.

It is currently only unclear how this function will be set up with the Huawei smartwatch. At Samsung you have to have the function calibrate with a real blood pressure monitor. This is very cumbersome and accordingly requires an additional device that not everyone simply has at their disposal. Huawei could start a real revolution here and show Samsung how to do it right.

Is the new Huawei smartwatch coming to Germany?

Just because Huawei is introducing a smartwatch with blood pressure measurement in China doesn’t mean that this watch will come to us. You need for such functions a medical license in each individual country where the function can be used. Should the smartwatch really come to Germany, it would definitely be a good move by Huawei to gain more market share in this area.
