PlayStation 5: First jailbreak is here – but don’t rejoice too early

A hacker claims to have succeeded in outsmarting the PlayStation 5 with a jailbreak. All the elements required for this have now been put together. A publication is not expected in the near future.

PlayStation 5: Important milestone reached for jailbreak

The hacker The Flow (fail0verflow) claims to have said it all root keys for the PlayStation 5 together. So nothing stands in the way of a real jailbreak. He had succeeded over ten years ago in circumventing the security precautions of the PlayStation 3 and thereby achieved fame. Now he seems to have succeeded in cracking Sony’s latest home console (source: fail0verflow on Twitter).

However, a publication is not expected in the near future. Whether the jailbreak will ever be made public is also at least doubtful. In any case, no details were given. In the past, The Flow had rather communicated with Sony directlyif gaps are found in the system. The white hat hacker is likely to stick to this principle with the PlayStation 5 as well.

Could be jailbroken Sony’s console unleashed and cracked will. Own software, tools and emulators can then be easily installed using root access rights, as can illegally obtained games. Sony, on the other hand, could hardly do anything to counteract the jailbreak.

PlayStation 5: Jailbreak is here, the console is not

While the jailbreak is now within reach, the availability of the PlayStation 5 in Germany and other countries remains poor. Although the console was already on the market in November 2020, it can hardly be found any longer. Also at Amazon or electronics chains such as Saturn and MediaMarkt the console remains in short supply.
