Not Tesla: This electric car benefits most from the environmental bonus

Anyone who buys an electric car has been able to benefit from state bonuses for a few years. Surprisingly, most of the applications are not for Tesla vehicles, but for a Volkswagen model. Tesla isn’t even in the top 3.

E-car: Volkswagen beats Tesla in environmental bonus

You can save up to 9,000 euros in Germany if you decide to buy an electric car when you buy your next car. The federal government gives a grant of up to 6,000 euros, the manufacturer adds 3,000 euros on top. According to figures published by the Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA), it can especially Volkswagen benefit.

At the top of the list is the VW e-up! to find. Nearly 42,000 applications for the environmental bonus have been received by BAFA. In second place is the Smart EQ fourtwo, while third place is again occupied by Volkswagen. Tesla has to settle for fourth place and 17,790 applications for the Tesla Model 3 (2021) in this country. Anyone who would like to continue to benefit from the environmental bonus for e-cars in the future should don’t wait too long. The current state subsidy could expire as early as the end of 2021. Then instead of 6,000 euros, only 3,000 euros would be possible as a bonus.
