A major milestone has been accomplished in Qatar’s vaccination effort against the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 80 per cent of the eligible population (12 years and older) having received both doses of the vaccine. Covid-19 vaccination has been administered to 80.5 per cent of those who are eligible. Of the eligible population, 92.3% have had at least one dose of this vaccination administered.

In the previous 24 hours, 20,381 doses of Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered. Approximately 4,252,387 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered since the programme began.

For the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, Qatar has issued an emergency use licence. There are currently two doses of each vaccine in the current vaccination programme. In fact, Qatar was one of the first countries to introduce vaccines to its citizens. As of December 23, 2020, the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines had been cleared for emergency use by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
