After several beta builds, Apple announced during its Unleashed event that the next version of its operating system, macOS Monterey, will begin rolling out as an update on Monday, October 25.

The new operating system includes several improvements for FaceTime, including support for spatial audio.

It also offers other exciting features such as the ability to use SharePlay to listen to music and watch videos with your friends.

One of the biggest changes is Universal Control. It allows users to easily switch between their Mac and iPad. It also allows the feature Seamlessly transfer files between multiple devices and type via your iPad from your MacBook keyboard.

The company stated in her statement The new, redesigned MacBook Pro press releases that SharePlay and Universal Control features are coming later this fall.

In addition, the company made major changes to its Safari web browser for macOS Monterey. Important changes include the tab bar and other key features.

Other improvements include Live Text, a Google Lens-like feature that lets you select text within photos and add quick notes.

macOS Monterey is also getting some updates that first appeared in iOS 15, including focus modes, and support for Shared with You, which keeps track of shared content within the Messages app.

Apple brings two important iOS features to your Mac: Shortcuts and AirPlay support, and Macs running macOS Monterey can use their hardware as an AirPlay speaker.

Apple brings macOS Monterey

macOS Monterey is designed to make the most of the power of the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, delivering exceptional professional-grade performance and capabilities and long battery life.

Designed with macOS Monterey on the company’s processor, the device instantly wakes up from sleep. The entire system is also fast with instant response.

Developer technologies such as Metal allow apps to take full advantage of the new chips. The improvements in Core ML also use the neural engine so that machine learning models can run faster.

It uses workload data on the M1 Pro to help improve how macOS Monterey maps multi-threaded tasks to CPU cores for maximum performance. While advanced power management features intelligently allocate tasks between performance and efficiency cores for speed and battery life.

The combination of macOS Monterey and M1, M1 Pro or M1 Max also provides industry-leading security protection, including hardware-verified secure boot, runtime anti-exploit technologies, and fast, embedded file encryption.

And all Apple apps are optimized for Mac devices. There are more than 10,000 public apps and plugins available. Existing Mac apps that haven’t been updated to Universal work seamlessly with Apple’s Rosetta 2 technology. Users can also run iPhone and iPad apps directly from their Mac, opening up a huge new world of possibilities.
