Social media goes viral with images of a pink water body in Qatar
Doha: After some Twitter users posted pictures and videos of a pink water body in the north of Qatar, the topic has become viral on social media. Though officials from the Ministry of Environment of Qatar didn’t know exactly why the water was pink, they collected samples for further study and testing.
The video was posted by Mohammad Abdul Mohsen Al Fayyad on Twitter. Later, he thanked officials for sending a team to run tests at the pink stream as a quick response.
In the absence of rain, some environment enthusiasts commented that the water became salty and hot. This caused the water to turn pink because the bacteria and algae that love saltwater secreted a pink substance that caused them to thrive in it.
