Doha hosts the World Military Parachuting Championship

Doha: 438 athletes from 40 countries will compete in the 44th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM) starting Thursday and continuing until November 29.

H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah attended the opening ceremony on Thursday.

Ranking officers from Qatar’s armed forces attended the opening ceremony, as well as the heads of delegations that participated in the competition. Air shows from the Amiri Air Forces and Al Zaeem Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah College followed the opening ceremony.

Colonel Mamby Koita, the Secretary-General of CISM, expressed his gratitude to the organising committee for their efforts to make the competition look beautiful. Qatar deserves a gold medal for organizing the event, he said, saying he recognized the high level of organisation as soon as he stepped foot in Hamad International Airport.

Lieutenant Mansour Omar Al Karbi, a member of the supreme organizing committee, expressed his satisfaction with how fierce the competition is. He said it has been successful from the beginning.
