Comprehensive review of SMART CLOCK 2

In the recent period, smart alarms have developed greatly, as they have become devices with multiple functions and not only alert you to wake up from sleep. SMART CLOCK 2 comes from a company Lenovo has made very important updates that allow you to control the home with voice as well as tell you the time.

Comprehensive review of SMART CLOCK 2

Lenovo has included a lot of functions in the Smart Clock 2, which comes in dimensions of 5 x 4 inches. It is the smallest smart display on the market to date and acts as a speaker for Bluetooth devices.

It comes with a touch screen and full support for the Google Voice Assistant, which allows you to inquire about the weather. As well as controlling smart home devices with your voice.

The company has provided a separate station designed for the watch that provides night lighting and a wireless charging pad for the phone. and a USB-A port for your peripherals. However it does not come with an extra battery so if the power goes out the alarm will turn off.

Smart Clock 2 مواصفات Specifications

The Smart Clock 2 comes with the smallest smart display so it’s suitable for those with small or crowded side tables next to the secret. Wireless charging and LED night light are excellent additions to this alarm clock.

There is no camera in the alarm clock and the small speakers provide sufficient sound quality which is suitable for streaming some relaxing music when you are going to grow.

The alarm clock provides seven different alarm tones to wake you up in the morning. It looks better than a smartphone but does not reach the level of other smart screens like Google’s Nest Hub.

The interface relies heavily on voice control to do things like turn off the room light via voice. And the small screen doesn’t let you do some of the major things you’d expect from a smart screen.

Where you can not watch the video but it supports video streaming from Google Nest security cameras. Which is handy and easy to use at night to see if something is going on outside.

However, the Smart Clock 2 currently only works with older Google Nest cameras. Not with new cameras or any third party cameras.

The screen also does not give you additional visual information when you ask questions to the voice assistant. But you can choose an album from Google Photos to rotate as the watch face all day long.

the design

The Smart Clock 2 comes with some improved design upgrades as it comes with new color options. Includes blue, gray and black. And a new, longer form factor so you can easily fit it onto your new charging station.

Although you can buy the watch without the charging station for less than $20, you lose a lot of functionality. The actual volume up and volume down buttons are still in the same old place with the mute switch on the back.

The touch-sensitive surface between the volume buttons also remains when you snooze or turn off the alarm. And the USB-A port has been moved to the included charging station, which will disappoint some if they just choose to buy the watch without the charging station.

The speakers have been brought back forward and it’s still powered by a quad-core Mediatek processor. Wi-Fi is required to use Google Assistant and other features.

Additionally, you need to use the Google Home app on a smartphone to set it up. However, without being paired with a Wi-Fi network, the device only acts as an alarm.

the performance

In general, the small screen of the Smart Clock is too small to move around comfortably. Swiping from the bottom to access the brightness, volume control, do not disturb button and settings functions was a bit complicated.

The device offers five swipeable screens on this screen. It includes the clock, notifications, weather, music and calendar.

It offers a single voice control function in the smart home, which is the option to turn the lights on or off in the room you are in.

But what makes the device stand out is the wireless charging stand that lets you charge your phone with a charging capacity of up to 10W. And up to 5 watts only when playing music.

The dock station is elegant and pebbled gray with blue spots around it. It does not need its own cable, but derives its energy from the watch itself.

The night light is integrated into the dock as an LED ring around the watch’s location. And it lights up for a few seconds when you put your phone on the wireless charger.

The watch itself has a built-in ambient light sensor that adjusts screen brightness according to room light. However, while it appears appropriately dim, it is not dark enough.

the price

The Smart Clock comes at a starting price from $70 for the main alarm. And you can spend an extra $10 to buy the complete package that includes the wireless charger and docking station.

Which is less expensive than competing devices such as the Nest Hub or the Echo Show 5. As a result, if what you just want is a smart alarm clock without a distracting screen, then this device is for you.
