HTC announces Vive Flow . sunglasses

announced HTC announced its latest virtual reality glasses called Vive Flow, a headset that is worn like regular glasses and is also lightweight at 189 grams.

Although HTC does not release smartphones these days. But the company still maintains its Vive lineup of VR devices.

The company describes the glasses as a compact and lightweight glass device that transports the wearer wherever they want or need to, anytime and anywhere. Designed with comfort and portability in mind, it allows people to find moments of calm and luxury.

The glasses have dual built-in speakers and dual microphones with echo and noise cancellation and Bluetooth audio support.

There is also 64GB of memory and 4GB of RAM.

It has dual screens with a resolution of 1600 x 1600 pixels running at a refresh rate of 75 Hz with a field of view of 100 degrees.

A built-in fan draws air around your face and warm air is pushed out from the top vent.

These glasses are powered by a USB-C port, and the company managed to cut the power down to 7.5 watts, making it easy to use a compatible smartphone or power bank to power the Vive Flow.

The glasses feature a quick switch feature that gives you up to 5 minutes to switch power sources.

There are adjustable focus lenses on each side of the headwear so that users can see clearly without the need for corrective lenses.

The company also boasted of the durability of the double hinge system. In addition to two hinges that fold up for storage, there is a second set of hinges that adapt to heads of different sizes.

There are two front-facing cameras that are used to feed the Passthrough video so that the wearer can be aware of their surroundings.

The company says it will later add a feature that will allow these cameras to track hands as well.

HTC has a VR headset for relaxation

Vive Flow does not have a remote control or hardware controls, instead it is paired with a smartphone and controlled using an app.

The application supports a virtual remote control to be used as a pointer or scroll panel through the headset. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi and Miracast connections.

The Vive Flow glasses are available for pre-order now for $499, with shipments arriving in November. Pre-orders also receive a pregnancy case and free VR content.
