Meteorological Department warn about thunderstorms and strong winds

Doha: Storms accompanied by high waves and strong winds are expected on the coast and at sea, according to the Meteorological Department.

Until six in the evening today, there is a chance of scattered clouds and partly cloudy conditions along the coast, as well as scattered rain, which may be thunderstorms in some places. At sea, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of scattered rain that may be thundery at times.

On the coast, winds will be variable, less than 5 knots at first, becoming northwesterly to northeasterly with gusts of up to 30 knots during thunderstorms.

With thunderstorms present, the winds are mostly southeasterly to southwesterly, with gusts as high as 32 knots. Meteorological Department also explained that the horizontal visibility ranges between 4 and 8 km, which decreases to 3 km or less with thunderstorms.

The height of the waves on the coast ranges between 1 and 3 feet, rising to 5 feet sometimes. In the sea, it ranges between 2 and 4 feet, rising to 9 feet with thunderstorms. The highest expected temperature in Doha is 33 degrees Celsius.

The timings of the tides are as follows:

Doha: The highest tide is at seven in the morning, and the lowest tide is at 2:32 in the afternoon.
Al-Wakra: The highest tide is at eight in the morning, and the lowest tide is at 3:36 in the afternoon.
Mesaieed: The highest tide is at 8:49 in the morning, and the lowest at 4:46 in the afternoon.
Al Khor: The highest tide is at 6:57 in the morning, and the lowest at 1.54 in the afternoon.
Al-Ruwais: The highest tide is at 6:56 in the morning, and the lowest at 1:44 in the afternoon.
Dukhan: The highest tide is at 12:10 in the afternoon, and the lowest at 6:02 in the morning.
