Things get complicated for the NBA for the second part of the 2021-22 season, due to the new variant of COVID-19.
At the end of 2021, 25 NBA referees have entered the virus protocols, representing 36% of all officials, according to a report by ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski.

Faced with the dramatic situation, Commissioner Adam Silver has made the decision to give the opportunity to men who are part of the staff that makes life in the G-League.
Despite the fact that almost half of the referees are out of circulation, the NBA continues its course with the teams seeking to reinforce the roster in the best possible way in the face of casualties from COVID-19.
