Windows 11 SE: This is what makes the new light version so special
After Windows 11, Microsoft has now introduced another variant of the operating system. Windows 11 SE is designed for educational purposes and relies entirely on the cloud. This creates new competition for Google’s Chromebooks.

Microsoft probably liked the concept of Google’s Chromebooks so much that they are now making a Windows version available. Windows 11 SE is supposed to especially interesting for students and has fewer requirements in terms of the equipment of notebooks and PCs. Instead of many permanently installed programs, the cloud is used – of course with Microsoft services such as Office 365. The focus is on the Group’s edge browser. Third-party programs are also permitted.
According to Microsoft, one has to develop worked with teachers and the operating system specially designed for students between the ages of 5 and 14. In contrast to Windows 11, programs should always be executed in full screen instead of as a window. Windows widgets and the Windows Store are not used. Officially, the “SE” has no meaning in Windows 11 SE.
This also goes with the slimmed-down version of Windows 11 Surface Laptop SE, which will be available for US $ 249 from the end of the year (source: Microsoft). The screen has a diagonal of 11.6 inches and the battery should last up to 16 hours. 64 GB eMMC storage space is available. In addition to the new Surface laptop, other manufacturers are to work on Windows 11 SE laptops. Microsoft names Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP and Lenovo among others.

Windows 11 SE: The new Windows 10X
Windows 11 SE is strongly reminiscent of Windows 10X, which was never released. Microsoft wanted one here too lightweight variant of the operating system for weaker laptops, but in May 2021 the end came as a surprise.
